Out of Home Sharpie Ad + Initial Idea Sketches

For this out-of-home advertisement for Sharpie I used topical humour as a way to attract attention. The intention was to do something different—something a bit odd—that would take an out-of-home advertisement to a less obvious place.

At the time of working on this project, the politicization of the Covid-19 pandemic along with the ensuing conspiracy theories inspired me to take this particular creative route.

I took a photo of myself holding a Sharpie and wearing a hat I fashioned out of tinfoil in order to look like a disheveled conspiracy theorist plotting my ideas.

Going in this direction may not work for everyone as humour is obviously quite subjective but I thought this was exactly what the ad needed to be distinguished and separate itself from the blur of advertising all around us.
