Design Culture Project
For this project I created six pieces from six different design/art movements.
Ethereal expresses the Surrealism through a bizarre scene where a potato hides in bed because there are mashers about.
Striking expresses Polish Poster Style’s impactful striking aesthetic with its simple textures and use of metaphor. Here a two-by-four—formerly a tree—is struck by its new lot in life.
Rudimentary expresses Plakatstil by getting right down to the fundamental without embellishment: a spatula on a plain background and nothing more.
Gritty expresses the Grunge movement through its stressed and smudged type, torn paper collage, duct tape, and unsaturated colours.
Basic expresses New Simplicity through simple sans serif type and plain modernist waving lines that move along a grid.
Hypnotic expresses the Psychedelic movement through bright vivid colours, playful stars, and a contorted typeface.
